Gravitate Productions is an independent film production Company based in Toronto, Canada. Founded by Krystle Ferdinand and Joseph Covello, Gravitate is committed to sharing thought-provoking stories that highlight Black and underrepresented voices. Through genre-blending storytelling and compelling distinct perspectives, Gravitate is dedicated to developing and producing films (stories, original scripted content) that entertain audiences and inspire human connection.

Meet Our Team

Krystle Ferdinand
Founder

Krystle Ferdinand is a Canadian Actress and award-winning Producer and Writer based in Toronto, Canada. She co-founded Gravitate Productions in 2020 to house the development of independent feature films and original scripted content that highlight Black and underrepresented voices. As a graduate from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce, she has leveraged her business acumen as a Producer on three short films that have screened at festivals worldwide.

Her most recent short film He Comes at Night recently had its world premiere at the Oscar and Canadian Screen award qualifying LA Shorts International Film Festival (2021). Also, her award-winning short film Engaged to be Engaged, which she wrote, produced and starred in, had its world premiere at Canadian Film Fest in 2019 and won Best Short at Short and Sweet Film Festival (2021) where Krystle was also nominated for Best Actress. She has acted in The Handmaid’s Tale, Private Eyes and Disney Plus’s Secret Society of Second Born Royals. Krystle is also an Assistant Director in the DGC, working on productions like Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley (2021), IT Chapter Two (2019) and Shazam! (2019).

Krystle is currently developing her first dramatic feature film No Serious Injuries.

Joseph Covello
Founder

Joseph Covello is a Toronto based Writer and Director. He has directed several award-winning short films, including short psychological thriller He Comes at Night which premiered at LA Shorts Fest and won Best Director at Independent Horror Movie Awards. He Comes at Night is a proof of concept for his upcoming feature The Yellow Queen inspired by Robert W. Chambers’ The King in Yellow. He also directed Engaged to be Engaged which premiered at Canadian Film Fest and won Best Short at Short & Sweet Film Festival. His debut horror short Alpine Country won the Maximum Exposure Film Festival Highlights Prize.

Joseph has also created content for clients including TD Bank, CIBC, Bell Mobility, Agropur, and The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
